“Small but wicked,” the new 2012 Fiat 500 Abarth has arrived at Crosstown Auto Centre in Edmonton, with the racing traditions that have made it a success on European roadways and racetracks.  Instead of jetting over to Europe to check it out, one is conveniently right here in Edmonton.

Under the hood of the race-inspired Abarth is a 1.4L 4-cylinder MultiAir Turbo engine.  This impressive engine kicks out a fun 160 horsepower.  What’s great about this MutiAir intake is that it helps with your gas mileage.  The fuel economy is rated at 28 mpg in the city and 34 mpg out on the highway.

The 2012 FIAT 500 Abarth has arrived in Edmonton.

There are 2 driving modes on the Abarth.  In Regular Mode you get 150 lb-ft of torque, in Sport Mode you get 170 lb-ft of torque.  It’s mated with a manual 5-speed transmission, which works perfectly with this extra bit of torque.

The outside really showcases its race history.  It features projector fog lamps, elongated front fascias, aerodynamic body, large rear-hatch spoiler, and duel-exhaust.  Attention to detail was not missed on the Abarth’s interior.  Contrasting red and black stitching really sharpens its look, and the leather bolstered seats really finish up its sporty look.

The Chrysler 200 has been gaining momentum, this time marked with an all-time sales record of 2,139 units, which more than doubled compared to April 2011.

Chrysler Canada announced the company’s 29th consecutive month of year-over-year sales growth. April sales were 24,540, compared to 23,837 in April 2011, representing a 3 per cent increase. Chrysler Canada continues to have sold the most vehicles of any company in the country, calendar year-to-date.

“Our highly fuel efficient new product is definitely giving our sales results a shot of adrenalin. After four months, we are off to the best start we have had in a decade,” said Dave Buckingham, Chief Operating Officer of Chrysler Canada. “To put the fuel efficient new product lift into perspective, the Fiat 500 and Chrysler 200 alone combined for over 3,300 sales in April.”

Chrysler, through its Mopar division, will be the first to get rid of power cords in its vehicles by offering in-vehicle wireless charging.  You’ll easily be able to charge your iPhone, Blackberry, MP3 Player, or your Droid-based device.  This technology will be available on the new 2013 Dodge Dart.

For easy access, a seamlessly integrated power bin – measuring 8.27 inches by 9.5 inches by 3.25 inches – is installed just below the center stack, and in front of the center console. The bin has a built-in charging mat that is activated when you place your device on it. The unit begins to charge when the vehicle is started. A phone case, specifically designed for a variety of smartphones, is required and included with the feature.

Best-In-Class fuel economy and Best-In-Class payload are what you get out of the 2013 Ram 1500.

The new 2013 Ram 1500 delivers best-in-class fuel economy with a truckload of pioneering, fuel-saving systems (including a more fuel efficient and more powerful 3.6-liter V-6 engine), and first-in-segment technologies: eight-speed automatic transmission, stop-start system, thermal management system, pulse-width modulation and active aerodynamics, including grille shutters and air suspension.

The legendary 5.7-liter HEMI® V-8 with fuel-saving cylinder shut-off and VVT provides 395 horsepower, 407 lb-ft of torque and best-in-class fuel economy for V-8 trucks (at least 10 per cent better fuel economy when compared to 2012 V-8 powertrain). Also, the HEMI delivers best-in-class towing and payload – 11,500 lbs and 3,125 lbs respectively, with Ram 1500 Tradesman Heavy Duty.

New exterior includes improved quad projection headlamps and LED front turn signals and taillamps.

The new 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine (Ward’s 10 Best Engines Award two years in a row) with variable-valve timing (VVT) offers best-in-class standard 305 horsepower, with 269 lb-ft of torque and best-in-class fuel economy for V-6 trucks. New V-6 features 42 per cent more horsepower, 13 per cent more torque and at least 20 per cent better fuel economy when compared to the previous 3.7-liter V-6 powertrain.
